Miller grew up in Nebraska and moved to Colorado in 1980 where she worked as a court reporter. She held that job until she came to Dallas in the early 2000s to train to be a closed captioner for live TV. Since coming to Texas she has remained here ever since. Alongside running the store, Miller still works from home, typing the closed captioning for sporting events. “I spent last night captioning the Houston Rockets basketball game,” Miller said. “All of the typing from being a court reporter has helped me since I started doing this. ”Miller puts much of her focus on her work, as she says that running the store isn’t a living for her.
